His History Before Camp
Thomas Jordan was your typical college freshman, until he got his girl friend, Shirin Garland, knocked up. After a quick shot gun wedding, when it came time to deliver, the child was still born. For the next few years their marriage was torture, he blamed her for everything, but she was desperate to make it work. One night Thomas took off for a night of drinking and ran into a beautiful stranger, he poured out "his" version of events, though they weren't quite the actual truth of things. The beautiful stranger was Ariadne, and taking pity on the attractive man, she ended up having a one night fling with him. When Damon was born, Ariadne took him to Thomas and told Thomas the truth. Thomas was in shock, not quite believing all the demigod and Greek god stuff, but brought the child home to Shirin anyway.
Shirin was devastated he had cheated, but was still in love with him and determined to make it work. For a year or so things seemed like they would be OK, until Shirin became pregnant and had a little baby girl. Thomas couldn't afford two kids, and started drinking even heavier, often beating and abusing Shirin in the process, that the kids were forced to witness. This went on until Damon turned 5, when Shirin finally had the guts to leave Thomas, and with the help of her brother, she left Florida and moved back to home to Maine.
For the next few years she tried to raise the kids on her own, but then one day she met Charles Bennett and things changed, they fell in love and after a year of dating married. Unfortunately they fell on hard times, and were forced to move in with Charles's mother, who still had Lynn, as her mother was still in asylums. For the next few years things at the house were hectic and crazy. Shirin was depressed, Charles had anger issues, and to top it all off Damon's ADHD was monumentally bad, even for a demigod. He also had mood swings off the charts at time, one day he could be snippy and angry at the world, the next day outgoing, cheery and playful. When Lynn turned 13 and went off to boarding school, her leaving was hard on Damon, sure they fought at times, but for the most part Lynn was the only one that could handle Damon during his off days. When Damon finally had his first monster attack at 13, nearly 7 months after Lynn left for boarding school. His mother opted to start sending him to camp during the summer and holidays. To her it was more a relief of getting him out of the house then actually believing he was a demigod.
Each holiday and summer passed Damon always wondered when Lynn would start coming to camp, but as she had a half-brother protecting her at boarding school, she never did. Then at 15 1/2, he went on a quest with some friends that brought them to France, while separated from the others, a couple of men snuck up on him and grabbed him from behind, knocking him out with a chloroform soaked cloth. The next, well, little over 1 1/2 years, would be the worst years of his life. His mother tried everything to find him, but after there were no leads a few months in, the cops gave up and marked it as a cold case. During Damon's time captive he was kept at the same place as a girl named Topenga for awhile. A month ago Topenga and her boyfriend Adolf came for Damon and rescued him along with 7 others and smuggled them all back into the states.
Time does not tarry ever, but change and growth is not in all things and places alike. For the Elves the world moves, and it moves both very swift and very slow. Swift, because they themselves change little, and all else fleets by: it is a grief to them. Slow, because they do not count the running years, not for themselves. Yet beneath the Sun all things must wear to an end at last.
It's the job that's never started as takes longest to finish.

This quest may be attempted by the weak with as much hope as the strong. Yet such is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere.
