Martha Buchanan was a high school girl living in Cardiff, Wales who had a bad reputation for sleeping around and getting wasted and high at parties. One day, she discovered that she was with a child and did the first thing a pregnant female would do; freak out. She planned on aborting the child so her parents wouldn't discover of it but, a couple weeks before delivering the child, they found the pregnancy records and told her that they, although disappointed, refused to let her abort the child. A few weeks later, she gave birth to a beautiful blonde boy with sky blue eyes which she named Ianto, meaning "Gift of God".
Soon, Martha graduated, moved to New York City for college, and trusted Ianto to her parents to raise. Ianto grew up peacefully and happily although there were occaisonal times in his life where he would see things that he could not explain (e.g. giant men with one eye, people melting out of trees, etc.) but would insist that they were real, gaining worry from his family and teasing from his peers. Soon, he learned not to speak of them anymore and, eventually, people stopped teasing him and there were very rarely any more trips to Dr. Jones, his psychiatrist.
He wasn't extrememly talented in anything in life; he was an average student, he was on the rugby team, and he had a handful of friends yet never very popular. But, unfortuanely, his grandparents always pushed him to do his very best; once, his grandfather even pushed him off a swing, causing him to break his leg. Since then on, he had a strained relationship with his family but still loved them nonetheless.
Unfortuanely, when he was fourteen, his grandfather died from cancer and, a few weeks later, his grandmother died from a heartattack. Ianto was sent to New York to stay with his mother and, when he arrived, he more frequently saw the "things". Although, this time, he stayed silent about it and tried to live a normal life.
Ianto was teased in school for his accent and nacrolepsy but he didn't mind much; sketching, napping, and studying all the time. When he was eleven, he met Liam; Ianto's best-and only-friend. Liam was two years older than Ianto but still took him under his wing, despite his popularity. One thing Ianto always found strange was that Liam would disappear every summer, only saying that he was at a "camp" but never saying what type. One day, Ianto was walking home from school a lot later when he was attacked by a hellhound. Out of panic, he caused it to fall asleep for a couple seconds before running until someone dashed past him and sliced the hellhound in half.
His savior turned out to be Liam, who soon explained everything and dragged Ianto along with him to Camp. There, Ianto met Rex; Rex had met Liam first and always had a thing for him, but was always too much a player to be committed so Liam refused to have anything to do with Rex sexually. But when he met Ianto, him and Liam get along instantly, and due to Ianto's more into being with just one person at a time, they start to date, it causes Rex to be jealous as f***.
Just before spring of 2010, they were all at Camp for winter break and went on a quest together. Halfway through, Rex does something that causes Liam to go missing and, instantly, Ianto blames Rex before they go their separate ways. Ianto finds a few older demigods hanging around England that aren't at camp, who agreed to help him look for Liam, so he spent the last 1 1/2 years furious at Rex and looking for Liam. Just before coming to camp, he thought he found Liam but, in reality, it was really the Braxas controlling Liam, hoping that using Liam's body. It hoped to be able to get past camp's borders and convinced Ianto he wanted to return to Camp.
They get almost to Camp's borders when a satyr comes across them, sniffs out that Liam isn't really Liam anymore and a big fight erupts with other campers coming help. Afterwards, Ianto runs into Rex again for the first time since Liam went missing, but he also has to deal with the fact that Liam is dead.
