"Education is a better safeguard of liberty than a standing army."

I can not help but notice an underlying pattern over the last few months, a pattern involving the reasons many of the users who have posted leaving blogs have felt the need to leave. Their backs are up against the wall, their grades are failing, their school work is lacking. So much so that they feel their only option is to just outright leave the wiki. Now, if you are the type of person with an addictive personality, and you literally can't do anything else but the wiki, an all or nothing sort of life, maybe leaving is the best option. What saddens me though, is that people feel it needs to be all or nothing. In the past we have always accommodated the need for a person's education to come first, in fact in June, when many of our Asian time zone users were heading back to school, any who wanted to come back when they had time, I marked as inactive for school.

You see, there is another option besides outright leaving the wiki. As long as I am informed in advance that you need to be inactive, it's simple, I make note of that, and unless we don't see or hear from you for months and months, your characters and position on this wiki remain safe.

As badly as we would like everyone to be active participants here, education must come first and foremost in a person's life. The youth here, as cliche as this is, are the leaders of tomorrow. I encourage you, if you are struggling in school, if you are having problems at home, please do not feel like leaving is the only option, I am more than happy to hold your spots and characters so that you can attend to these matters, and come back to use when you have more free time. As long as I know ahead of time your intentions, your positions will be safe.
